I'm looking at repairing the drivers side window regulator, and install a new 4 piece window kit that comes with inner & outer seals, the felts, and channel runner. The Window Regulator looks harder to remove then I thought. Can anyone give me any tips, should the window be up or down? do I have to remove the window? thanks.

It takes some fiddling to get out. Take your time and be patient. Remove all the screws for the regulator, check to make sure you get them all cuz there are some not so obviuos ones. The window will disconnect for the arms with some manuvering. It ain't an easy or fun job.

I removed mine today for the first time. It was actually pretty easy..I first removed the vent glass assembly then I had to tilt the window so I could move the rollers on the regulators so they would come out. The window will then just pull straight out and the regulators will almost fall out when you remove all of the bolts.

Does repair mean replace or did you find a kit for repairing these regulators?

No, the Coil spring came of the Regulator. I found it sitting at the bottom of the door. I thought while I am at it, I should replace the Window Channel and Felt, and Seal (the kit). The window is very hard to roll up, and the rubber seals are also dried, falling apart and leaking dirt and water into the bottom of the door. BTW thank you for the replys.

UPDATE: I end up taking the Vent Window assemble out, then the door glass, and finally the regulator. And guess what, I got back all together too! Thanks for the help.

If I may ask, does it all function properly? You said it was hard to roll up. Is it better than before?

I find it rolls up much easier now. Before I would have to hold up the glass with one hand to help roll it up!
As for fixing the regulator, nothing had to be done. I just thought it might be broken because I found the coil spring sitting at the botton of the door. Maybe it was from the other side. I don't remember because it was a couple of years ago and it was working good. I'll find out when I do that side.
