67 GMC Grille - Repop OR Rechrome?
I'm in the market for a new grille for my 67 GMC & I've heard rumours that the repop's dont fit as well as the oem ones, yet I know that having the origional one rechromed will be big bucks... I'm looking for your feedback & your experiences here. Thanks!

Re: 67 GMC Grille - Repop OR Rechrome?
If it were me, I would at least try a repop - none of the repop stuff is great on fit, but it can be massaged. Either that or keep your eye out for a NOS, but they are probably pretty hard to find. Good luck.

Re: 67 GMC Grille - Repop OR Rechrome?
I have a repop on my 71 GMC and I happened across a NOS GMC grill (at great expense)
You cannot tell the two apart...if you held them side by side you would see some differences, part numbers for one etc. But the repops look every bit as good and seem just as sturdy. Fit wasn't perfect, far from it...but since the front clip was a mish mash of repop parts it was hard to know where to lay the blame. In the end the bodyman made it all fit together far better than stock, it looks fantastic and the gaps are fine. THAT BEING SAID!...it may get rusty quickly, as repop is wont to do. I'll let you know. BTW shouldn't we call it "repro"? Hmmmmm.

Re: 67 GMC Grille - Repop OR Rechrome?
Repops are expensive enough. Doubtful most anyone could afford to rechrome one unless you were Bill Gate's relative.

Re: 67 GMC Grille - Repop OR Rechrome?
I cleaned mine the best I could, taking with it any of the black that was left. The chrome under there was shiny and new but the center grill is on the clean but polished dull side.
(72) Looks OK and will prob just buy the top portion from LMC cuz my original is dust. It would hurt to go in $4 big ones on repop. If I could rechrome for a decent price I would go for it. Anyone in So Cal with a deal?? i would also be interested to hear what others have done. Maybe some pics?

Re: 67 GMC Grille - Repop OR Rechrome?
I've heard stock ones in the $150 range. If I was to rechrome one, I'd look for either a painted or chromed one in vg to excellent shape...
