70 GMC....anything special??
This looks like a nice original 70 GMC....the guy says the original owner painted awhile back, not rust, new chrome, new engine....cannot seem to figure out the SPID...is it a 71??

Yeah,the mirrors say it's a '70 or earlier (if original). Someone popped a '67 Grille in. Now it's a GMC GMC

I saw that too special-K....I'm a newb to GMC's, so I wondered which was correct!!!
Anyone have any idea on the 3 and 4 in the VIN?? Did I decipher the SPID correctly using chipflyer's website

C 2 wheel drive E v8 gas 1 1/2 ton 34 fleet bed 1 1971 z freemont California 60628 production number not positive, haven't seen my GMC notes in a long time, but I hink that's how it decodes. |

interesting point, that has the tranny listed as an M38. In the trucks, both TH trannys were supposed to be M49. The M38 was a TH350 in car talk.

Their are 4 different formats for the gmc 67 to 72 vins. It can get confusing. Chipflyer's website is correct.
That vin decodes to a 1970 from Oshawa. The 1 is Oshawa and the Z is 1970. Gcburdic you decoded it correctly and Andy your memory is still darn impressive. EDIT gcburdic just noticed your question about the 3 and 4. It's 34 and it says 34=wideside pickup
