Re: Burb is home!!
Sorry yall, didnt mean to leave anyone hanging, had some empty tummies to fill. The guy that I took it to said that he ran the numbers on my engine and found that my engine block was actually manufactured in 1976, he said that somethings just dont line up between 71 and 76 engines sometimes, one being the starter. He put an AC Delco starter on it and so far it has started everytime. She runs great, but after sitting in the paint shop for almost 3 years, and seldomly being started, Im afraid of what might break next, lol. Weve changed out all the seals, belts etc... now still trying to get her back together and get her road worthy again. Hoping to make her the summer vacation super sub, lol. Yall keep your fingers crossed for us, I still cringe every time I go to start it up. lol
Thanks again everyone for following along and for your help. take care junk

Re: Burb is home!!
Glad to hear it. Just curious, was it reasonable price wise? It sounds like they figured it out fairly quick. It could have been easy for them to say alot of things were wrong. Hopefully you found a good honest connection. Eric

Re: Burb is home!!
It sounds like you found a true mechanic. He listened to your problems, knew there was more to it than bolting another starter on it,and went right to checking numbers like he had already been there before. I have taken a problem that I had keep repeating itself to a shop before, explained the issue, only to have them do what I had been doing. I get it home and it still had the problem! You make it clear they were to be looking for the cause, not the symptom, and they fix the symptom anyway. Even though you paid them for nothing, they spent time and bought a part. I hate that. So,you pay double labor to get it fixed right.

Re: Burb is home!!
It was only 160.00 . He pretty much told me what the problem was before I took it in, but then Id come across several people; ie neighbors, bubba down at Advance etc.. who KNEW what the problem was. So far, so good. I wont b eable to mess with it til later today, but yall can bet that Im going to start it until I grow tired of the activity and drive the dog snot out of it, lol. Still have several issues I need to adress, like why in the heck my gauges arent registering right. Wow, whole nother issue...lol
