Re: Thoughts on this rear bag setup..

The blocks shouldn't make a difference in mounting the bag brackets since they are only moving the axel, so out or in shouldn't be an issue. Just make sure the TAs are against the frame when the bag is fully compressed to make sure you are getting the most drop possible. After that, if you need more drop, the blocks will come into play.

Re: Thoughts on this rear bag setup..

oh ok..im glad i ask these questions. i thought that since the axle goes up with the drop block..which also brings the ta up..compressing my bag even more.

im gonna go with mounting the bracket aired out. my ride height is about 30 psi..which is a quarter of full inflation (120 psi). shouldnt make that much of a difference in ride quality

Re: Thoughts on this rear bag setup..

i may be starting on this in the next week or so...so i went and sort of measured a few things. right now with 2" blocks...bags fully compressed = trailing arm to frame is about 3.5" (which should be the collapsed bag height). now, when i remove the bag and let the arms hit the frame...should i measure from the lower bracket, up 3-4" and mount the top bracket? or should i mount the bracket flush with the bottom of the frame to avoid bag interference with the frame when its aired out? but, if i mount it that way, wouldnt the bag be over compressed when its aired out?

Re: Thoughts on this rear bag setup..

When you mount the upper bracket, I wouldn't mount it any higher than 3" above the lower. The compressed height of the dom is 2.9", so you'd be losing lift if you mount the upper and lowers futher away from each other. Make sure you give enough side clearance too since they balloon out.

Re: Thoughts on this rear bag setup..

thats what im afraid of. they balloon to 8"...i dont think that with this top bracket mounting flush on the frame that the bag will clear. the more and more i look at it and mock it up, it seems this setup with this bag wont work. for one, if i let the ta hit the frame, then measure up the side of the frame 3", the top bracket will then no longer fit on the frame, without extending the top of the frame up so i can then bolt it to and also weld the bracket too. then, even if i get the bracket mounted, the diameter of the bag seems like it wont clear the frame.

so, the only way i see this bracket setup working is...bolting the bottom bracket up in the stock location, weld the top bracket completely flush with the bottom of the frame. which, essentially is the same as having the bag in between the stock coil location and the frame! with the bag is mounted here, when aired out, the frame and ta will still be 3" apart since the bag would be holding up (since i dont see how moving the upper bracket up would work)

getting nowhere here lol.
