What's the rule on front fender swaps?

I should know this but...which GMC front fenders interchange with Chevy fenders for what years? Do any year GMC fenders work on 67-68 Chevys? A local guy has some GMC's that he thinks will work on my 67 Chevy. I know there is some crossover between certain years but don't know the rule of thumb.

67 chevy = 67 gmc
68 chevy = 68 72 gmc
69 72 chevy = nothing in gmc

csa not sure what "the other way" means but Rick hit is right on with his post.

The difference (not regarding marker lights) is that the 69-72 Chevy fenders have a "cut out" so to speak for the grille to sit in.

Re: What's the rule on front fender swaps?

FWIW, I bought the GMC fenders before I got Rick's answer. I needed 67 Chevy fenders but was okay with the idea of 68's because someone already put later rear fenders on my 67 stepside. I don't know what year the GMC fenders I got are, but they look exactly like 68 Chevy fenders (not sure about the trim holes on the front edge).

look at how the holes for side trim are if they go down about an inch below the body line then it is probably from a 69 72 if it is closer then it is a 68 gmc fender
