Re: Unusual motor swaps...
I have a '91 S-10 with a 360 stroked Mopar. I was going to stick it in my '67 C-10 but decided against it. It would have been a lot easier. Those things are 3in wider than and 350 Chevy and 1.5in longer so it took a lot of cutting.

Re: Unusual motor swaps...
they aren't efficient in size, but there is no denying the sound of a v12. Don't get me wrong, I love the mean sound of a SBC or a BBC, but those v12s are just wicked.

Re: Unusual motor swaps...
I've seen one or two older pre-68 trucks on youtube where they transplanted a Trailblazer 4.2 DOHC inline 6 cylinder complete with 4L60E and fuel injection. One was even turbocharged.
I drive an 03 Trailblazer and am impressed with the power outa that motor, and 20 mpg on the highway at 70 mph. The other thing is given the absence of much demand for these motors, I've heard of junkyards selling them complete for $300. Could be a very interesting swap. Almost guarantees you won't run into anyone with one of those in an old C10 at your local Show and Shine. |

I can think of more fun places for a "Chevy" than just another 'chevy". Can you imagine what happens to ricky racer in his mousephart powered honda when you pull alongside him in this? What a great place to house an LS2 Corvette motor!

Re: Unusual motor swaps...
The PO's PO put a Pontiac 400 in my truck... Not too crazy because it's basically a SBC but you don't see many people running a Pontiac motor in their trucks... These pics were from the week I bought it... I have since replaced the carb and air filter...

Re: Unusual motor swaps...
Well I am going to put a 267 SBC in mine to get it running and get me inspired to get it going again. I have a 383 short block to go in later but I don't have all the parts to finish it just yet and with money being tight, the 267 is going in for a while. I figure it should be about like having a six under the hood.

Re: Unusual motor swaps...
I've got a slightly unusual motor...
478 V6 Toroflow diesel, but after this trip to the 'stan I'm pulling it for a 12V Cummins. Then maybe this will end up in my 70... Laying frame with a Toroflow.

I wish it shared parts, it's almost impossible to find stuff for this beast, hence why it's getting a Cummins re-power.

Re: Unusual motor swaps...
I have an article around here somewhere about a guy who put a Detroit 4-53 into a 70 GMC 1 ton, the truck got 20 mpg on the highway and around 15 pulling his 30 ft camper. He also pulled a heavy 3 axle trailer with loads in excess of 20,000 gross all over the country.
