Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
I'm jealous, your putting your wrecker to use and I can't use mine yet. I wish I had another wrecker so I could lift the wrecker body off of mine! It's HEAVY!!!!
I like the blue and white truck. Big block=COOL. I'm in the middle of doing the cab on my wrecker and it's a MESS! Probably as bad or worse than yours. The only thing that will be reused is the dash panel and from the lower windshield pillars up to roof and down the back. I replaced the whole front cowl and am putting in a new floor soon. Lots of work but it will be SOLID! I am doing this for alot less than 1,500 too. Up to you, pay the price or do the work. It all equals out in the end; time is money ya know. Good luck and have fun with it!

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
Is the trim piece woodgrain like the tailgate band or black?

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
Well, I was going to ask about that. The bands are black on all of the rest except the tailgate, is the gate suppose to match the black? Or is the gate suppose to be woodgrain?

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
Pretty sure it's supposed to match in black...maybe the spid might help decifer it.
pm board member chipflyer. He re-does the spids and has all the codes...so he can tell what those are by the codes...

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
I have that piece for the cab corner. A couple dings and the black paint is coming off, but it's free if you want it. PM me your address if you want it and I'll ship it out Monday.

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
So beds off, going to try to get it running tonight. If it will run, change the oil and stuff before I pull it apart completely.
No luck on a cab yet. It's gonna be tough to find one with high hump hole, a/c, and all the little pins for the trim around the back, cargo lap hole. What have I gotten myself into. Lol Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
Rolled it outside today, new battery, and i grabbed an outboard tank from work. I didn't expect much, has what looks like a double pump 750 holly on it. But with a pump of the bulb on the boat tank, and a turn of the key, it was running.
Choke works, i don't think the fuel pump is working, as i have to keep priming it to keep it running. But i was very impressed with it, love the sound of a Big Block running. Drove it back in the garage. Single trac rear though. BOOOOOO I can't believe a BB truck without a posi! Mind you this truck has been sitting for a looong time, with no doors on it, in NH. And all the guages worked, and the SUN tack also worked. It was a good night.

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
Thank Zoomin,
Unfortunately i just found out its a fake. The Vin plate and the SPID are from a LWB truck, not a SWB truck. Not sure what to do now. I spent 3k on a rusted out POS. Spent alot of times and years trying to find the right truck, and i'm not sure whats real and whats not. I should have know, the guy had a shotty craphole shop. God i wish i'd been more prepared.

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
Well, that sucks to be sure. I know you did a lot of research and everyone missed the LWB, but it is a BB for sure.
On the other hand, take a look at VA72C10's build thread. He's going all out on a truck that's a former LWB, and it's still going to fetch a handsome sum when he's done. Look at the second truck in my sig - a LWB going under the knife. Here's what you've got going for you - you now have the freedom to do whatever you want with this truck. Do you like buddy buckets? Go right ahead. Want to paint the inner fenders body color? Knock yourself out. You aren't bound by what's correct. You have a truck that you can drive and use, not a museum piece. Properly done, this truck isn't going to be worth less anyway. Keep on going and don't look back. It's still a better use of money than a Las Vegas hooker. Well, maybe not, but you get my point.

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
I suppose your right. I'm stuck with it now, and it's still what I've always wanted.I just hate getting screwed over. I'm going to continue on with it. It will still be a fun truck.

Have you inspected the frame to see if it was cut or if they swapped frames? If they swapped frames you have a swb bb truck anyways. Nothing to hang your head about. And probably why the bed is in better shape than the cab. So be happy you have a nice shortbed

Re: Meet Project Red, White, and Blue
I did check the frame this morning, if they cut it, they did a fantastic job, its not visible at this point. I'm going to spend the whole weekend striping the truck, then i'm going to sandblast the frame then i'll see whats there.
I am disappointed to say the least, not in the truck, but in the fact that i was wilfully deceived. I emailed the seller, he has "no idea" that happen. BS. I am going to keep my SPID, and i will have a new one made with what the truck has for options and make the changes to 115. I'm not one to deceive anyone, it really pi$$es me off when people pull that, and if i do sell it, i will full disclose all the information to a buyer. I'm still looking forward to the build, it is my color, and its a big block. (Not sure if its a 396 or 402 now though) Thanks Glen

I am doing the same thing on my build. I have the original SPID for mine and will give to the next owner. I will advertise it as a SWB BB Super, but CLEARLY stated in the ad I will let them know it was originally a LWB. Hope the block turns out to be correct for you. Does it have all the pulleys/brackets?
