problem with lift springs and shackles
Need some advise hope someone can help
I bought a rough country 6" lift kit springs frt and rear and 2.5" ord shackle flip kit for the rear Installed the kit yesterday frt went ok but the problem is with the rear. I mounted the ord flip kit as far forward on the frame as poss made sure it was in the correct direction and the fat part of the 52" spring was at the rear but when I went to attach the stock shackle to the spring the shackle is basically just an extension of the spring The wheel base of the truck is now 4" less. Tires sit forward too much. I talked to jamie at national 4wd and he is going to check with Rough Country on monday. Do I have the wrong spring length or?????? Truck is 80 k10 350/700r4/np205 combo long box. Any help will be appreciated and yes this my first. tks rob Sorry no pics avail as of yet |

Re: problem with lift springs and shackles
Sounds like you need 56" springs. Measure your old springs from eye too eye and then measure your new springs and see how much different they are. When I did my truck I had to make a zero rate block to move my axle 1.5" back to center it in the wheel well. ORD has them but I'm cheep and made them myself.

Re: problem with lift springs and shackles
As far as I know, the newer springs will be somewhat shorter than your original springs, partly due to the arch of the new springs. You definitely need to do some shifting of the rear axle to get things to work, and as far as I know, you will have some angle on the shackle.
Also, isn't the ORD shackle flip kit supposed to give you a bit of an angle on the shackles? If memory serves, their kit is designed to do this.

Re: problem with lift springs and shackles
Dont you need to re-center the axle if you use a shackle flip??? The ORD zero- rate add a leaf has options for this??? Maybe I am misunderstanding this... what about some pics.
