15 x 12 backspacing

I am getting ready to order either the new Rival rims or Rally rims from Billet Specialties. I have Mickey Thompson 29 x 15 x15 street radials and have cut the bed floor and added 4.5 inches to the factory tubs. It appears that a 7" backspace would work with my combo. Anyone else running 15 x 12's ona '72 fleetside with factory width rear?

Any input appreciated......

Thanks,

Jeff

Re: 15 x 12 backspacing

Don't think it'll help, but it may be useful. I have a '69, that I ran 15x10 Wheel Vintique rally wheels on. Stock axle width with a 5-inch backspace on the wheels. Didn't stick out past the sides of the fenders, nor did they ever rub on the inside of the wheel housings.

I think your stock-width axle housing is a tad (1-inch?) wider than mine. Based on what I know about mine, I'd think a minimum of -inches for backspace, but probably more correct is your thought about going with the 7-inch BS. If you have to special-order them, I understand making sure that what you get is what you need, so sending this up top for you.

Re: 15 x 12 backspacing

Odd...I have been searching today for the same size and from what I get from this chart and the wheels I had on my 71 ,7" bs would be pushing it.
Maybe 7 1/2 or 8 inch bs. I'm really interested in this myself.
