1971 C10 New 2.5 CPP Drop Spindles Installed and Now the Brake Hoses are Too Short
I've done some searching on here, but I didn't come up with a definative answer.
I installed 2.5 CPP drop spindles and when I tried to reconnect the caliper to its mount the hose would not allow, as it is not long enough. I think these spindles must move the wheel out an inch or so? I put the wheel on and it fit perfect within the fender, so no issue there. What brake hoses can i use that fit the 71 hard line connections and are longer than the stock hoses? The other option is to extend the hard line, which might be the cheapest. Just looking to see what others have done in the past. TIA

I think member TxFirefighter posted that the 71-72 1-ton brake hoses are longer.
You might check that out at your local parts store.

Once the suspension is compressed and the truck is sitting on the ground, the brake hoses should reach....at least mine did anyways. It would be nice if they were just a tad longer though.

I've also made 73-87 hoses work,... but they are much longer.
(they work good with bagged trucks)

71-72 one ton hoses are an inch longer but otherwise the same. I buy them from Kennys Trucks up in Oklahoma.

So they will connect to the hard line fittings no problem?

If you noticed,... one of the steel line fittings is larger than the other.
(if I remember correctly it's the LH hose) You will need to adapt that fitting with an "inverted flare" adapter. The other side is a bolt on. I think I did a small amount of grinding at the caliper end of the hose, so it would seat correctly on the caliper. If it's too much trouble,... just buy AN fittings and steel braided hose. It's a little more money though.

I recommend getting custom lines made. They are not that expensive if you find a good shop.

If I ever have a problem, I will swap them out with 1-tons like TxFirefighter uses.
