Replaced ball joints, and axel joints
What should I expect my truck to do after These get replaced? should i smell anything. or hear anything? I just got my truck from the shop and i can hear a quiet grinding noise, i can't really tell if it is my axel, or my tires on the pavement, my tires are darn near bald and aren't in good condition so i'm thinking they are the cause of the noise. also when i brake at 55 my truck shakes a little bit, could that be a warped rotor, or out of balance tires?
Thanks for making it through my post haha. Justin |

yes to all of those, however if it didnt do it prior, take it back to the shop, let them tell you and document that is the issue, then go fix what you think it is, tires etc.

Re: Replaced ball joints, and axel joints

Re: Replaced ball joints, and axel joints
take the wheels off and check your inner and outer wheel bearings, go ahead a nd replace even if they are goo (not if they are new though). they can make that noise too. check your brakes too, the warning sensor on the pads can make that sound also.

Re: Replaced ball joints, and axel joints
alright, the shop replaced axel joints and wheel bearings just today...i think it is a warped rotor, if the rotor was warped bad enough could it make a grinding noise even while not brakeing?

Re: Replaced ball joints, and axel joints
hell yes! but it would be very bad.
Is your truck 4x4? axle joints must be 4x4.

Re: Replaced ball joints, and axel joints
yes, my truck is a 4x4, i'm going to assume it is the rotor at this point in time, as it is the most convenient to replace.
How much can i pick up a set of front rotors for for my truck(corporate 10 bolt)? I'm gonna venture to guess if my rotors grind while not braking they are too far gone to have turned. Thanks!, Justin |
