c notch strength
after installing a notch, properlly, is the section behind the notch as strong and supported as it was before hand?
im building a custom trailer for myself. i have designed a air ride suspension, but it would require a notched frame for the best result as far as lowering it. making loading and unloading a breeze for those frame scrapers! help guys, ideas, thoughts, suggestions? |

Re: c notch strength
put your air bags directly over the rearend...i have found in my recent experience that if your towing a load or hauling heavy things that airbags does great over the rearend then compaired to on the link bars

Re: c notch strength
C-notching the frame weakens the frame unless you maintain the original height of the frame above the notched area. The overall strength is in the height of the frame rail.
Boxing the inside of the rail or plating the outside will help restore some strength but it will not return it to what it was originally rated. Good reading here.... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=393867
