Question Tire and Wheel sizes for '72 Cheyenne?

I had a quick thought... I would like to put a 10" wide tire on the rear wheels. The guy at the store recommended that I don't go over 8.5". Anyone have any experience or input on this? I don't want to risk any problems as far as rubbing or anything. The wheel its-self would be a 20x10...

If it can't be done, no one has told my 72. They fit in there with room to spare.

Re: Tire and Wheel sizes for '72 Cheyenne?

Did I miss something? What wheel? What backspacing?

Boss 338s @ 20 x 10 need a spacer with a 6 inch drop on a 1/2 ton fleet. No big deal. But backspace is a big deal.

My 20s fit great with the 1 inch spacers on the 71.

Like I said, maybe I missed something.

That is right! I wanted to go with Boss 338s @ 20x10 on the rear and 20x8.5 or 9 on the front. What brand and size tires will fit those?

Re: Tire and Wheel sizes for '72 Cheyenne?

i know alot of people choose the Boss 338 for the price but another good looking wheel to consider is the Eagle Alloy 225 series decent on the price also...less than $300 a wheel and with the backspace you want..just a thought.

Yeah. 1" spacers. From a seller on e-bay. Polished billit. No trimming the studs in this application....or in yours.
I think the spacers were ~ $65 for the set of two.

Now those wheels of Original-71's. Really, really nice. I like 'em.
And $300/wheel certainly isn't over the top for 20's.

But, I was on both a budget and looking for a sort-of retro American Mag thing. I think those look excellent on O-71's truck.
But mine is going to have stay a rat for a while.

I think I paid $820 for the set of four, delivered to y wheel guy's shop. That price included a little profit for his, I suspect.
And the cost to me for balancing the new tires on the wheels....It would be nice if Boss offered backspace options on these 20's. But.........

Here's my '69, which granted has a narrower rearend but with the right BS (like original-71's truck) a 20x10 will fit nicely in a '71-72. 20x8.5 fits will up front too.
