Rear end is GM 56
Got under my 71 last night and this is what I found on the axle. GM 56, k300, NF3896838.
Not sure what hat tells me, it's twelve bolt.

tells you nothing, if you wanna find good stuff then you gotta find the stamping codes, pass die axle tube about 5" away from the end of the center housing where the tube slides into the housing, scrape clean on the top front side of the tube, about halfway in between the shock mount and the center housing
also date code casting is on the lower webbiong of the center housing on the bototm left or bottom right wil be something like C82, etc etc ------------------ Randy- Lincoln, IL randy@ccaonline.com -71/C-10(thx teeitup and crews!)350 4+4/CH465(thx 71Chev, GMCPaul, and CPNE)longfleet bed(thnx meathead95)!still building it- -'84 Z28 H.O. 305 L69 700R4 GT4 3.73 - 1984 Firebird SE 2.8L T-5 GT4 3.73 -1981 Cutlass Supreme, dunno what im gonna do with it yet... -79 G20 pass van, 350/th350/10bolt *Paint is overrated © RSS Enterprises 2000 |
