I have installed a couple of Lokar automatic trans shifters. I put one in a 58 Chevy truck. I looks like a manual trans floor shifter at first glance. The workings of the shifter itself are great. There is a neutral safety switch, and when the shifter is operated it feels like a quality piece. I do not have any pics, but If I was looking for a floor shift, I would look no farther.

Found it, but it appears not all the links are still good after 3 years

I read a bunch of stuff about Gennie and Lokar. Both were pretty well liked, but the Gennie came out ahead. I have a 23" Gennie that will be going in my panel.

yeah, i really like the lokar shifter, they look great, and are well constructed, exactly what you would expect from that company (got to play with one at their traveling display).

Ultimately i decided against it, because of the button being located in the center of the knob. My thumbs just don't work that way, and it's the same complaint i had with my 84 camaro. I prefer to grab the knob over the top, rather than gripping it from the side.

I initially went with a 23" then sent it back. Too long for my taste. Felt like I was in an 18 wheeler. I swapped it out for a 16". Here's a pic for comparison. Excuse the cell phone quality.

Knowing nothing about either...what are the main differences between the two?

Recently installed a 16" in my '70- has more of a 'stock' look to it than the 23". The longer one would be cool for a 'rod' though

Very good quality part that works extremely well so far- have yet to actually drive with it. Please excuse the construction zone that is my cab...

It went to Canada with boardmember 'classicchev'. Long story, but it was for the better. Hopefully we'll see some progress out of it soon- he has big plans for it

It's a Lokar 16" floor mount with a black anodized knob.

I have the 16" Lokar in my truck now, and I love it. Very nice quality.
