Tie down anchors/rings?

Hi,

Which tie down anchors/rings are you guys using? I found these on LMC: http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=28
Do you think those are safe to use? Will too much weight on the anchors cause them to slip out of the hole?

Ive used those before. Not super strong in my book. I never trusted them for any thing heavy duty.

Re: Tie down anchors/rings?

I see, so how do you recommend we use tie straps? Just hook them into the existing holes?

Re: Tie down anchors/rings?

I got some pop-up ones at Harbor Freight for around $10 a pair. I had to trim down the inner mounting plate, but they seem to work well:

I have the chrome ones from LMC. They work O.K. for loads of wood and stuff like that.

This thread shows some tie down options under the rail using existing holes (slightly modified). I used an option like this and it is super strong and out of the way.

Re: Tie down anchors/rings?

I removed 4 bolts in the corners of the bed that go though the floor supports....I then got 4 eye bolts and welded them closed so they can't staighten out ( and they will ) I tie down 800 lb dressed harleys in the back alot ( matter a fact I'm moving one tonight) never had an issue....I also tie down my slide in camper to these rings.... being bagged I can dump the tailgate down to about 10" off the ground drive thenm in air up and go.....
