Leaky Doors.

Finally got my Blazer ready to drive but the weather up here in the pacific northwest has been pretty bad. I want to be able to drive it in the rain but it leaks towards the front of the side windows where the deflector, window rubber and door rubber all meet. The window deflector seems like it just directs more water towards the rubber to find its way in than anything. Its got all new rubber. Has anybody came up with a remedy for this problem? I bought the truck on the premise that I was going to drive it in the snow and rain but that can't happen if it's leaking like it is now. Thanks.

Mine is the same way and haven't been able to make it stop. PNW weather sucks right now.

Re: Leaky Doors.

Someone has to have an idea to fix this. Did the original drip rail deflectors tilt in like the repros do?

Re: Leaky Doors.

They all leak and it's always going to rain up here in the PNW. It's just something we all have to deal with I drive mine through everything, even though it may leak. It's my work horse and daily driver.

You guys get any snow down there? We got some snow up here today along with hail. It's April..what's goin on here lol

Re: Leaky Doors.

If it makes you guys feel any better. They leaked when they were brand new also. But after enough years, you kinda get used to your left knee being wet when driving in rain. Old rag tops use to leak also. Enjoy the leaking, If it didn't leak the top wouldn't come off.

Says the guy living in Texas. I don't think our concept of rain is quite the same.

Re: Leaky Doors.

Theres a product called duct seal. Its kind of a waxy clay. Electrical wholesalers stock it. I was thinking about squishing some of it in there just like a wax ring under a toilet basicaly. It seals without glueing.

Re: Leaky Doors.

I usually coat the "drip rail deflectors" with black silicone where they meet the roof and the window frame. This year, i had to remove them and redo it because i didn't get a good seal. I've stopped 98% of the leaking there.

Re: Leaky Doors.

I found the best thing was to just live with it. I romoved my carpet and had the floors rhino lined to keep the windows a bit clearer and so the floor doesn't rust. Thats why they went away from the full tops,,,they leak.

Re: Leaky Doors.

I had mine lined as well. It was like 700 or so?? I tried the black silicon and it did nothing either! This summer I'm taking my carpet out throwing water proof seat covers on and really enjoying the Jim before I start the tear down and re-restoration

It was actualy armour gaurd I got done, and I think it was $600. I went with this brand cause at the time it was the only one that had a ruber kinda texture and feel. I didn't want a lining that was rock hard and just textured looking. It took a bit of work and a cash deal to get that price, and other places where $1200 and up if they would even do it.

Re: Leaky Doors.

I throw in a layer of "rope" caulking when I put the top back on for winter use. During the Top "off and on" summer season I just wear shorts and deal with a drip. The rope caulk just stays in puddy form so I comes right off. Cheap too.

Mine is also rhino lined so water is really no big deal unless it's ruining my slacks. I try not to wear slacks too often anyway!

Re: Leaky Doors.

Yeah sounds like the same stuff. This was white/grey, but it's just a roll of clay like puddy that peels off in say 1/4 inch round strips. Got it at home depot, I am sure it's available anywhere.

Re: Leaky Doors.

That looks just like duct seal. I get it at my electrical wholesaler. Its a waxy clay bar I use to seal holes in walls around refrigeration lines and wires. Its a little flexable, and not adhesive, just tacky.

Re: Leaky Doors.

I am with Old Man Jimmy, I have a soft top and they have a gap at the top of the window so I just cary a towel to drape over me left knee, and a trash bag for over the seat so I am not sitting in a puddle when I return after it is parked! Not to mention hope at every stop light in a down pour the wind is blowing the rain away from tha drivers side! Ha Ha. I did have a couple of Pool foam noodles cut to fill the crack for a while! I guyss when I get a hard top I can battle these issues you are talking about!
