stock Oil gauge question

I'm trying to do a cluster swap....

The mechanical gauge kit I got at the parts store, isn't working...

it wont thread on, but looking at the picture you can see its a different thread.

any ideas??

Yea the cluster thread is most likely an American thread and the brass fitting is metric.

You will probably have to find an American brass Ferrel fitting that will fit the gauge, then remove the one on the plastic line and replace it with the new one. Also if you can find it there are replacement copper lines that are a bit better than the plastic.

I had the same dilemma. I just went to Ace Hardware and picked up a compression fitting that had male threads on both ends. It has to fit the threads inside the gauge, not the ones on the outside. Worked like a charm.

Something like this. Just remove the nut from one side, thread it into the gauge, and put the line into the other side.
