Lowering Springs

I did a search and didn't find what I was looking for does anyone know can you just pop in a set of lowering springs say from Hotchkis to achieve a nice drop on a C20? I am buying one and want to save up for the whole kit to convert it over but it's like 5500.00 from Hotchkis so for the time being can I just swap springs to achive my desired stance without changing over all the control arms and spindles and axles to C10 gear? Any advice appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes you can install lowering springs in your C20 without spending a bunch of $$. Lowering springs are available from several sources, and as far as I know the lowering springs for a C10 will work on a C20.

You pretty much have to use C10 lowering springs don't you? Or does someone make a C20 specific lowering spring I googled but didn't find anything just bags and the kit like from Hotchkis. Thanks

There are many other sources for springs also. Have you checked out the suspension section here on the forum? There is a thread over there titled "Make it handle" written by Rob at No Limit Engineering.

Before you spend as much money as Hotchkis wants for that kit, I would suggest doing some research here on the forum. I believe you could get similar results for a lot less money using less expensive parts.

Another place to look fro your front suspension upgrade is http://www.porterebuiltstreetrods.com He is a vendor here. His specialty is a bagged dropmember, but he was working on a similar dropmember with coilovers. His products aren't cheap, but they sure are nice, and they work well. It just depneds on your budget and what you want.

Thank you for all the info will do some reading and as far as Hotchkis I just like the completness of their kit but not an absolute have to have for now was just wondering about a straight spring swap and realign to get it down while I save for a conversion.

I installed front drop springs in my 63 and kept the stock drum spindles for now. I have had no issues. I used 3" drop springs from CPP

I also went with the springs, 2", stock spindles for now, with no problems. Wish I would have done the 3" though. They also have the disc brake kits with the drop spindles ... think I will go with the disc/2" drop spindle kit when I get some $$$, price not that bad, $650

Were you able to just pop the springs in and as for the spindles do they make a disc brake drop spindle that will work with the C20 upper and lower control arms or do you have to swap to the C10 arms?
