Allen head sockets????
I"m needing to pick up a set of 3/8 drive allen head sockets tonight. Are the craftsman ones any good? I don't mind paying the coin for a good set. I just don't want to have to worry about rounding one off. opinions?
Thanks in advance,

The shorter the the bit the stronger. I have a set of snap-on that are only 1/4 in. long I use them a lot. I bought 2 sets of craftsman,80 mile round trip for warranty.

Re: Allen head sockets????
I picked up a set of "Stanley" ones that work well and haven't rounded off.I've had them for about 15 years and don't use them as much now.I was doing maintainence in a machine shop when I bought them. They did get a work out there.

Re: Allen head sockets????
Most any of them will round off if not sitting in bolt tight. The cheaper chinese crap tends to do it more however. The thing I like about the higher quality tools is that the shaft is mounted into the socket tight and does not wiggle around. Many are just pinned. I like them to be tight. makes a diff sometimes in tight areas. It depends of course on your budget. Craftsman are still a pretty good set. They have gotten too cheap on some of theirs. I hate having to drive to get a tool replaced on a warrantee. For these tools I use Snapon, mac. They all can break or bend.

Once you break off the little stupid plastic lever they are now one way. My fault for dropping them on the floor. I would get a good set of pro ratchets that last. that is the most used tool, except for a 1/2" and 9/16" wrench. I like MAC ratchets they are nice to my sensitive hands |
