Short box measurement please

I am in the process of shortening my box but since my frame was only shortened in the middle I have to cut the front of the box only. I would like to keep the same dimensions over all as a regular short box. Thanks for your help.

Re: Short box measurement please

im pretty sure from the wheel well to the tail light has a different length + a different taper... better off selling what you got and getting a short bed box..

Re: Short box measurement please

I'm curious about these dimensions as well because I have an extended cab conversion truck and I'd like to know if the tonneau cover for a short bed will fit it or not.

Re: Short box measurement please

14" comes off in the middle, 5-6" comes off the back end of the frame. My truck is up the road or I would get some numbers for yah.....

Re: Short box measurement please

Thanks b454rat here's the thing I had bought my frame and and all my 4x4 stuff from a fellow that was going to make a crew cab short flat bed and he cut the full amount in front of the rear wheels about 18" or 19" not sure the exact amount. So I am trying to get the box the same length as a factory box. I know the wheels won't be in the middle of the box but that"s ok with me.

Re: Short box measurement please

Please post your mods...short beds are hard to come by here in the rust - salt use belt.

So can you take the difference off of the front and make a shortbed?

I realize there will be quite a bit of body work to make it look right.

Re: Short box measurement please

Lets put it this way God gave much more patience than cash. I have some of the prep work done on the box but I need to run 220 power to my shop and get a welder and learn to weld. I know I will get it done some day, even if it takes small steps.

Amen! to the patience vs cash statement.
I'm lucky to have a friend with a fully equipped fab shop who gives me free run of the place.
