72 SBC removale
I am taking out a sbc 350 out of a 72 and having a little trouble. What is the best way to to unbolt the motor from the stands. Is it the three bolts from block or is there a single bolt somewhere that holds it? I looked at the bottom of the tower and there appears to be a bolt is that the one I need to take out? If so what size would it be?
Thanks, I'm new at all this. Kurt |

Re: 72 SBC removale
yes. there is a bolt that comes up from the bottom. Remove it on each side and you can remove the engine.

Re: 72 SBC removale
Not sure I understand, Is the engine in the truck or on and engine stand (out of truck)?
To remove from truck, there are two bolts through the frame rail o the engine block as well as several bolts that attach the transmission bellhousing to the back of the engine block that must be removed. Unless you are removing tranny as well, then you have to disconnect the driveshaft and remove a third bolt going through the frame crossmember to the transmission. If its on a stand, attach to hoist then remove three bolts from rear of block. |
