My recommendations from an engineering standpoint is to locate the thermostat somewhere in the radiator near the tank that leads to the engine. The point of the thermostat in the intake is to regulate coolant temperature in the block. The point of the fans is to cool the radiator.

The fan should only run when truck speed is too low for ram air to cool the radiator. If the thermostat is installed in the block/head then it would be possible for the fan to run when truck speed is sufficient to cool the radiator. This will negate any HP gains or MPG savings by going electric.
