Which mufflers do you like? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Wondering about current muffler preferences. I'm considerably older than my truck

, so the last mufflers I got are 30" glasspack blanks, still externally intact but totally hollow! I'd like my next set to sound deep, rich, & mellow, not extremely loud. Does anyone still use glasspacks, or is it all Flowmaster/Magnaflow/or whatever? I'm open to all opinions, the more the better!

BTW I have a virtually stock 350 with 2" exhaust dumping about a foot behind the mufflers.

I LOVE THE SOUND OF GLASS PACKS. DONT LIKE FLOWMASTERS, THEY ARE TO DAM LOUD AND HOLLOW SOUNDING. MAGNAFLOWS ARE THE WAY TO GO I THINK.

i love my flowmaster 40 series, but they are loud not too loud though

(i rev engine instead of honking horn)

I agree with mtdave2, I got Magnaflow's because of the videos he posted awhile back (thanks by the way!), and I love them. They have a nice mellow sound similar to good glasspacks from back in the day, and really sound great under acceleration. Another reason I chose them was because everyone around here has Flowmasters, and that hollow metallic tone is so played out! I used to like the sound of them, but hearing it on every single car and truck became really annoying.

I love my Flowmasters! If you don't want the hollow metallic tone, get Delta Flow Flowmasters. The tone is alot deeper and richer, not agressive and kinda tinny like the origingal flows. I am running Delta Flow 40 Series mufflers, and i love them. They end just above my rear axle, with no tailpipes, turndowns, or anything. It is really deep and throaty, not tinny at all. Just yesterday someone complimented on how good the truck sounds. Come to think of it, i get compliments on the truck's sound almost everytime i talk to a fellow gearhead. It is also pretty loud, but i'm 19 so i love it

It's hard to beat turbo muff's for the money.

The 70still has a rsuty stock muffler. Just put Flowmaster 50's on the 96. My first time with them, but love the sound and it doesn't kill the inside.

Yup!! Magnaflow is the way to go!!

A nice sweet rumble that really turns heads,
and you can still hear your stereo to boot!!
(It does have to be turned up though)

magnaflow's are geat if you have to use muffers, but i personally love straight pipes... i love the price too

No really my 3 chamber Flowmasters sound nothing like everybody elses around here. Everyone around here still run glasbastards with cowboy kabooms on their trucks.

hooker aerochambers all the way. those muffs sound really good. edelbrocks sound really good to but they are really expensive. aerochambers are cheaper than flows but are just a hair louder than magnaflows but sound way better. magnaflow sound just like dynomax/thrush mufflers. deep tone but not too loud.

Dynamax race mufflers and 3-1/2" pipe on the Chevelle....I had to stand outside of the garage to record it.

Flowmaster 40's (2 chamber) with 3" pipe, H-pipe behind my ZZ502...

Dynomax turbo's on my 2001 Suburban 496/8.1....

Soon...Chevelle with 3" pipes and Magnaflows......
