Posi

hey all,

Well I found a local mechanic that will install a posi in my rear end for a reasonable price! What I need to know is, what all do I need to buy for the complete instalation? Besides the actual posi unit of course.

your mechanic would probably be the guy to ask, I about to do that as well, and I was thinking maybe new wheel bearings and seals

You may want to get an installation kit that has bearings, shims,
seals, crush sleeve, etc. for your 12 bolt.

Here is a link, just click on the Chevy truck 12 bolt section to view the kit.

I also went with Tomsdifferentials back in October. I bought new bearings and races ($25) the Eaton($280) plus $19 shipping. I don't know if these prices are still the same today. I reused my 3:73 gears so I didn't need anything else except fluid and posi additive and a new chrome cover. My mechanic charged $100 to swap and it took about 3 hours if I remember correctly.
