layin pinch on a 65

whats up guys im new to the forum i have i 65 that im building rite now i want it to lay pinch weld on 22s. i came across this thread yesterday and i have a few questions. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=269019 it says all he did was a 4 inch z and lowered the body mounts an inch and he is lower than the pinch how is that possible cause ive been reading u have to cut an inch off the frame to hit the body and it dosnt look like he touched the frame at all??

I think it is because the body mount rubber is at least an inch tall, so in theory you could solid mount the cab, and the rocker would be level w/ the frame rail.

if you have the cash you could go with a porterbuilt dropmember, and would not have to do the z

he brought the body line down an inch with the body drop, instead of bringin the frame up an inch by cuting it.my guess.im runnin the porter dropmember front n 3 drop spindles on 22s with 35 series tire n im bout 1/4" from pinch fully aired out.close enough for me. (for now)

you can lower the cab mounts an inch to lay pinch, you are just gonna have problems with transmission clearance in the cab. and also, your motor is going to be really high up and make hit the hood. I haven't seen a picture of that truck with a hood on yet.

how did you get to 1/4 inch? did you install nylon body mounts that are thinner or something?

Re: layin pinch on a 65

ya my original plan was to z it 3 1/2 inches and run 2x4 tubing under the cab but i saw that he didnt even touch his frame rails and hes hittin body so i was just wondering how he did it but looks like im just gonna run the tubing that way i can just lay rocker. im not really worried about the trans in the cab cause im gonna have to do somethin with that either way but i dont want any probs putting my hood on

Re: layin pinch on a 65

What's up guys! Here is my input on this situation. I have a 64 short bed fleet Porterbuilt Streetrods dropmember. 3 inch spindles. Slam bags. I lowered my cab mounts 3/4 of an inch. My pinch weld is still on the cab and is holding my frame rails from touching the ground by a 1/2 of an inch. See my build thread to see! http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=225314

Re: layin pinch on a 65

im not really into bolt on stuff i wanna do the z and the 2x4 tubing. its a way better feeling when its done and you can see all the work you did to get it there. those dropmembers are nice tho but a lot of money.
