The carpet, dash cluster surround and the undercarriage would scare me away.

yep, i have to agree, the interior is not exactly my cup of tea either (especially the carpet), and you gotta wonder what's under that gorgeous carpet - but the body appears to be in super shape

Amazing how they took care of the paint and body and didn't even clean the under carriage and frame up.

Re: nice looker 65 short fleet big window on ebay
Yeah,Looks like a classic resale red paint job, judging by the other details I would not want to hazard a guess to whats under the paint.

You could not build that vehicle for what they are asking ?? looks like they took the engine, trns, etc from a 88 up burb maybe even the 4wd....

Re: nice looker 65 short fleet big window on ebay
I didn't even pay any attention to the price on the truck. I just can't see putting that much into it without starting from the ground up. Sorta like polishing a turd..pardon my french

Re: nice looker 65 short fleet big window on ebay
I should add that i agree with you jocko. It's a super purdy truck, just if I was buying I'd be upset that they left everything underneath undone...I'd probably tear the paint job up doing a frame off
I'm more into buying a clunker and restoring it than buying a restored truck...and trying to finish it

That doesnt look anything like any resale paint job I have every seen, its far too smooth and glassy and the panel gaps are VERY good. The sheetmetal looks like orginal. What it looks like to me, and this is just my opinion, is a guy did a nice job installing the EFI engine and overdrive trans, and likely hired a body shop to refinish the outside of the truck, and probably paid half a ton to do it judging by the quality of the paint surface. I dont know a single body shop that sprays any part outside of what they are paid to spray no matter how "bad" it looks on a lift. I know there is surface rust on the chassis but really I havent seen one that doesnt have surface rust in those areas except maybe dinos and delmos az finds. |

Re: nice looker 65 short fleet big window on ebay
yeah, this is an odd bird the more one looks at it. I do agree with joedoh though about the resale resale red being nicer than any resale red I've ever seen - it is. But at the same time, why do that SO nicely and then leave the rest so poorly or not at all? Seems the current condition raises so many questions whn for about another $1000 invested, he'd have close to a show truck and could be asking even more. Yes, a frame up would have been much more work - but I'm thinking that if he had the correct interior, simple rubber floor mat, etc inside and restored the dash - most would be drooling over this as a repainted original untouched gem. My 3rd shot at 2 cents. I guess I probably owe a nickel change now...
