Have any of you 4-53 guys ever had a problem with the internal fuel lines leaking and causing lube oil dilution? When I was in the Coast Guard, one of our lattice cranes ran a 4-53 and we could not stop those damn lines from leaking. I am sure they were worn out; after 40 years of half-ass mechanics doing tune ups and cross-threading lines
.The beautiful thing about these detroits is, if you know them well enough, you can tell by listening which one is a 53, 72 or 92 series. I always thought the 53's clattered the most, but I do love their sound .
