Corvette Steering wheel question

I'm looking to get a simulated wood 'vette 3 spoke steering wheel for my blue interior '72 super. I am confused on which wheel to get. I see that the 1963-1966 wheel looks almost identical to the '67-'68 wheel. The early '63-'66 has a 1 piece 3 spoke center section and the later '67-'68 wheel has a 2 piece 3 spoke center section. I also believe that the '67'68 wheel has a deeper dish and maybe different diameter. I am so confused at this point. Which wheel do you guys have? Which one fits? Looks good? Pics earn bonus points.

Those are the same style wheels. Any idea what year those are? Are the stainless center spokes all one piece or are they two piece? If two piece, then one spoke will be slightly offset and the other two will be made of one piece. Clear at all?

The black rim one is a comfort grip wheel that was used in several cars. I had a re-pop '69 Camaro wheel in my '70 GMC. Actually, the wheel is the same, the installation kit is different. For a truck, you want the 67-68 Camaro kit which has a slightly smaller diameter hub that better matches the steering column in the truck.

I think what you are looking for is the "Grant Nostalgia" wheels. Part #967-0 (woodgrain) and 968-0 (black foam) You can also get the same wheel with a blue chevy bowtie center cap - #967 (woodgrain) #969 (black foam) WES

I have seen those and the woodgrain ones aren't bad. I am a little undecided about the grant's. I definitely think the oem ones look nicer even though they aren't real wood :/

I have an original GM 3 spoke 'Comfort Grip' wheel on my dad's 68 now. The original (apparently 69 style?) hub is larger yes, but it's only about 1/8" on the top / bottom. 1/4" dia larger.

Finally found a blue one ! Lol.

@ cheyenne shortstep: that is exactly the shot I am looking for. Is that about a 16" Wheel? How would you rate its comfort in general? Like how it fits the column/seat/cab? Hate to ask, but do you mind giving me an idea what you gave? In essence is the ebay link a good deal?

I've been looking at the same type of wheels. I have one in my 71 Skylark that I love. The dish isn't as deep as the reproductions you linked.

I'm kinda partial to the 1969-1972 3 spoke wheel, complete at the link below. Just waiting until I can convince myself the truck needs a $200 steering wheel.

Original 'Vette not repop. Yes 16" diameter. I spotted this wheel hanging in one of my muscle car parts hoarder buddies basement years ago and pretty much just took it, the next time he was at my shop he spotted my LT1 valve covers. Good trade. The 'Vette wheel is deep dish [4"] so shortening the column is pretty much mandatory, the GM sport/comfort-grip wheel is much more comfortable and fits the truck better IMO.
But, the 'Vette wheel looks way more *****en.

Probably bombarding you with questions, but when you say the sport/comfort-grip is much more comfortable do you mean less deep dish or do you mean the actual grip is more comfy?

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't swap it out, I have always had a thing for large diameter wood rimmed steering wheels. But having had trucks with both, the sport wheel is overall more comfy. Mostly due to the depth and diameter. Although when I had an '88-98 Silverado armrest seat which is much thinner and lower it was no big deal, or maybe I was thinner.

Ok. Thank you all for your responses. I think I am going to have to try and see one of these things installed in the flesh before I can make a decision. The ebay links do seem to be too deep without a tilt and/or shortened column. I may have to hold off and get a black comfort grip and paint my column black :/ Not sure. But man the wood wheels look SO good. What to do? What to do?

I have only seen or used the one piece sport wheels in these trucks.

I also have a 65 (64-66 simulated walnut) vette wheel like Cheyenne. It is 16" in diameter and 4 1/8" deep. The wood grant wheel in post # 8 is 15" in diameter and 4 3/8" deep. Just for reference my original 72 wheel is 16" in diameter and 3 3/8" deep. The adapter may add about 1/4" maybe less. I do not feel the need to alter the steering column for the approximately 1" difference.
