Advice for a 67
So a few years ago i got into an accident with my 67 chevy c10, it was my first ever car, i was like 18 or so, now im 23. I decided to do a frame up restoration/rebuild. Right now i have the interior almost done, minus the wriring, heater/air system, and gauges. I put in a new gas tank, new carpeting, new column, seatbelts, and so on. Ive gotten the frame straightened, i upgraded to power steering, i put all new suspension front and rear, (the coils springs in the front were the hardest thing ive ever done).
I have a used 383 stroker motor that i tore down and built back up, all new gaskets, new parts and all. its almost ready, minus the air conditioning compressor but after that its done. Im so close to putting the engine in and wiring it up, but it seems everytime i get a new part to install it throws me a step back figuring out how to make it work. I know im young and i have limited knowledge, so im taking all advice i can get from you guys with experience and who know exactly what they are doing. If you have anything helpful, lay it on me, please. Thank god for this site, id be stuck in day 2 if it wasnt for all the advice and help

well it seems bad but just tell your slef everytime it happens "theres a 15 1/2 yearold out there right now who built a 67 from peices and now has to find every single last peice just to make it start and drive again!"
it seems tuff... everytime i make a list it gets short then bigger by a few then shorter then the last then a couple pack on then off etc.... now i am down to 6 things to make mine drive (illegally without brake and lamp inspection).... i have been at it since june 2009.. |

When ever you even think your unsure about something ask! I wish i'd known about this site a few years ago. I've found it extremely helpful, and continually amazed at how quickly people get answers to some very unusual questions. Just don't give up, the hardest part is to keep going. Your young (no slam there) and will have a great truck you can be proud of once it's on the road.

Keep goin'... It'll eventually be on the road. Don't "haywire" stuff... do it right the first time. Even if that means you have to wait a month or save up money for a fairly expensive part.
I'm 43, and still get stumped from time to time. I've rebuilt lots of engines in my day. Messed with trucks from the 50's to the 90's. Screwed with GM A-bodies and F-bodies. Had a drag car... etc. Still some things will come up that I haven't seen, heard, or done myself... But within 15 minutes of asking a question here... I will have a dozen answers. It's a great resource. Again... keep at it. It's cool to see young guys still interested in old iron, and not rice rockets.  Gary

Oh yea i love Chevy, no rice rockets for me. Just american muslce. I love the simplicity of this era and actually being able to work on my car without a computer
