Car Show: Castle Rock Colorado. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

Took a drive to Castle Rock Colorado on Saturday. They shut down the main drag and had a couple hundred cars and trucks. Neat show with an eclectic mix of everything from high end resto rodded Jaguars to some misdirected tri-five Chevies.

I got a bunch of photos…. I’ll post them here as time permits.

This ’56 was for sale. Whoever applied the stripes and installed the clown shoes should loose his “Man Card”. Nive window graphics too.

A Hudson and a Caddy

Ford’s removable factory Mustang hardtop. They only made 499 of these. A cool idea that never made it to mainstream. The removable hardtop concept is why these Mustangs all have a roof that looks separate… ‘cause it is.

Dig those “cool” Walmart wheel covers on that classic mid year ‘vette!

396 BB Camaro… sweet!

And even more clown shoes on a nice ride

This old Ford was sportin’ a ton of period correct pieces parts

The following cars are from a Highlands Ranch Colorado show…

This GMC had a lot of “hammered finish” grey paint accents.

Thanks for the pics. I think the one that bothers me the most is the 64 vette with the Walmart's on it!!!!! You should have done the owner a favor and stole them! The 56 chevy is sickening too!

Re: Car Show: Castle Rock Colorado. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

ugh, that 65 SS is makin me want to cry... had a white one just like it. Ahhhh....
I really like the car shows where they block off the street - it's more like a "cruise night' back in the 60's atmosphere - as opposed to the massive parking lot shows. But they're all fun, and if really big you probably can't afford to shut down long stretches of road either!

Thanks for posting Lakeroadster - I'm digging te old GMC trucks, especially fried greeen t'mater. But a vette with plastic hubcaps? Oh my no.

This AMC was very interesting. Check out the split vinyl top and side pipes.

Re: Car Show: Castle Rock Colorado. The Good, The Bad and the Ugly

What an interesting variety of stuff. So much to see after all the months of winter weather. I think my favorites are the Ford sedan with the blown hemi, 63 500XL fastback, the Vette dashboard, and the big sedan with the wooden artillery wheels, although I would have stopped and looked over most of them. I’m confused by the 56 Chevy. With that stance I would expect Torque Thrusts, fenderwell headers, and slicks. The presentation leaves me perplexed. The car itself is actually in beautiful condition.

Looks like you had beautiful weather to enjoy it all. We’re still waiting for spring to arrive around here. It's going to be a very short season since summer starts on the 21st.

Thanks for sharing.

I missed the big show here yesterday, so thanks for the pics and the chuckles (even though I cringed a bit)

This year was the "3rd annual" so yes it is. Here is a link to the club that organized it. Might want to email them if you are making a special trip.

The owner wasn't around or I would have struck up a conversation. My bet is he bought the car as is except for the bad taste stuff, which he put on. A set of TTO's and a heat gun to remove the tape stripes and windshield decals would change the car from "what the heck" to "Ohh hell yeah!".

Well, I learned about "clown shoes" from an early childhood friend of mine. I attached his photo below:

The Keystone Klassics just look right on this Impala… that and the dual quad 409!

And this little ’56 was super clean

And I still like these Gran Torino’s….
