Destination Unknown Build
Hey guys and gals... thought I would start my own build thread for my '66 BBW SWB.
The reason why I've named it the Destination Unknown build is because I have no clue how it's going to turn out in the end. We're just kind of going with the flow. The truck had a lot more rust in it than previously thought (it's true what they say - if you see a little rust there is probably a lot more unseen) so that has kind of changed the direction we were going with the truck initially... I'm not a body guy so a lot of the rust repair work is being done by a good friend Joey Kaylor - the owner of Protocol Automotive in Floyd, VA. Any metal work in these pictures are a credit to him and his employees. I'll start out with the before pics of the truck. |

Re: Destination Unknown Build
Both pans and rockers were massively eaten out. All four cab braces were pretty much gone, as well. The cab was listing massively to the passenger side.
In an ideal world we would have thrown the cab away and found one in better shape but in the mountains of SWVA they all look like this after 40+ years of being outside. |

Re: Destination Unknown Build
As bad of shape as the floors were in there was nothing wrong with the cab corners - surprising! Also, the lip above the windshield was in pretty darn good shape with only one little piece of rust showing through after blasting. The windshield track was in great shape, which was good news as well.

Re: Destination Unknown Build
After amassing parts from Top Banana (which is only about 2 hours away from me) the repairs began.
