Can you post the vin #s inside the front door on the I.D.plate? Maybe the engine date #s. Perhaps this was a really early 1968 assembly with that steering setup. Nice truck!!

It could also be a '68 body on a '67 frame. Would have been a pain to retro fit that powersteering on a '68 frame, rather than just use the correct 68 + power steering setup. Do me a favor, look down from the under the hoodon the driver side frame rail and see if there is a factory notch on the frame for the later powersteering.

I'm not doubting this could be the case, and I'm not an expert, but I have found factory '67 trucks with the notch and the later powersteering, but I haven't seen any '68s with the older powersteering. Of course it may be that they still had some 67 suburban frames left. I don't really know. It's a mystery.

thanks for all your help, I will look for the vin number and post it, and will try to take more pics tonight. Also, I will like to have front discs, but now I am thinking to keep the 6 lugs, is it the 6 lugs from the 68 the same as the 6 lugs from todays trucks, like a 04 tahoe, I now the diameter of the bolt is different, because one is metric and the other is standard. Now, to do this the easiest, can I take the front suspension from a 73-87 truck or 73-91 suburban, and then replace the rotors to a 6 lug rotor, and if this is the case, does any one knows which rotors I can get from the autoparts, I know I can get the rotors from ECE part # 03-6370-6L, but are there any others. I read the conversion thread a couple of times.

I dont see it listed on the glovebox spid label. Could be added on. If it doesn't leak, why not use it!

Not sure what was factory. I have 1969 panle and Im planning on adding rear a/c out of astro van.Main reason Im choosing this unit is I already have one,there may be better units you can use. the conversion shouldn't be very difficult if you have some fabrication experiance and little imagination.

I have not done anything to the burb yet. I bought a 5.3 VORTEC which I will be installing. A few weeks ago I also bought a 71 3/4 burb with the barn doors, no engine, no tranny, just the body and rolling chassis, the chassis is from a 69 but it was converted to front disks, the floor has more rust than my 68, but it has all the glass. Just by using some parts it will be paidoff. I remove the front clip of my 68, the corss member at the front is bent, the radiator supports are broken, not cmpletely but still broken. The frame where the front bumper attaches is also cracked. At the rear bumper, the PO install an ugly steel bumper, he weld it and cut the top part of the chasis. So I was thinking, since I have the 69 chassis and is actually in better conditions than my 68, why not use it, I have a 5 lug differential from a 72 that I bought, and I also have the front suspension of a 81 truck that I bought for the 5 lug disk set up. Question, since the 3/4 chassis has the disk setup, can I use the top and bottom A-arms and just use a different spindle with the 5 lug rotors, or will I have to change everything. I will be posting pictures soon
