Disk Brakes
I have a 57 3100 and wanted to go with disk brakes up front.
Has anyone used the disk brake kit without doing the 5 lug conversion? I would like to get disks up front but retain the 6 lugs. I've seen the kits that do this retaining your stock hubs (upgrad bearings). Any downside to going this route? Are there any 6 lug rotors that could be sourced at a salvage yard that would work on my stock spindles? Thanks for the info!

Re: Disk Brakes
Heres my set-up. This is the six lug kit from Performance Online (POL)
I caught this kit on sale for $249.00 two years ago, couldn't pass it up. Have a late 60's Camaro drum brake non-power asist master cylinder (1" bore) mounted in the stock location. With the stock brake drums in the rear. Works very well, have 9000 miles on the system now. At first I had the recommended 2 psi brake pressure check valve in the front line and 10 psi check valve in the rear line. But the front brakes always smelled hot. So, I removed the check valve from the front lines and am very happy with operation of the brakes. The rotors, caliper and pads are '73 Blazer 4 wheel drive, front axle parts. justplainray |

Re: Disk Brakes
Ray,
thanks for the reply. I'm a little confused, what did you buy from POL? Just the bracket kit? The only one I see on their site is for 5 lug. Their complet 6 lug kit with calipers and rotors is 369 and seems to be a pretty complete kit minus a MC & booster...
