Front bumpstop question

I recently bought a 70 C20 that has coils all-around and was lowered before I bought it. I noticed today that in the front it actually sits on the bumpstops.

What are the opinions on what I should do with them. Remove them completely, leaving the mount. Cut them down a bit to leave a bit of rubber as an actual bumpstop.

The fact of riding on the bumpstops would explain why it sounds like I bottom out when I hit a small bump, when in actuality I have no travel due to riding on the stops.

I have no bump stops on my truck. Front or rear. Been that way for about 10k miles. No problems at all.

I'd remove em!!

I've had mine out for a few thousand miles without any problems.

Before I removed the stops, I would determine why the springs are that flat. If you remove the stops now, the shock will probably bottom out. Eventually that will lead to shock failure.

Personally I prefer to remove the stop and its mounting pad from the arm, and add one that set for the correct height.

So from what I know, the coils are new lowered coils as I was given the original coils when I bought it. Not sure if they may have gone 1/2 ton coils instead of 3/4 ton coils plus I have a 396BB in it.

I removed the rubber stops and it drove much better BUT I did hear it bottom out on the mount itself since there is a high spot on the mount that comes halfway up the rubber.

Right now there is about 1.5" of clearance before steel on steel on the top of the mount.

I cut the brackets off the lower arms, & drilled a hole ,then bolted a traction bar snubber in place....crazyL

N2TRUX: I determined that I have a 4" drop in front and it appears they may have installed drop coils, PLUS they cut it. That explains why it is so low.

Alignment seems pretty good on it, not pulling to one side or the other and no uneven tire wear.

Now that I know this ( why it's low in the front), I was going to remove the bumpstop mount along with the steering stop and install some traction bar snubbers and place them to act as a partial steering stop if I can.

Do you think it will work as a bumpstop/steering stop? My other option is to find some 3" drop coils for the front to raise it up an inch and give me more travel. I would like to go with a bagged setup, but it's cost prohibitive at the moment.
