Re: Air fittings won't screw down
*UPDATE*....
OK heres where i'm at. Sent the tank back. They said nothing was wrong with it, and shipped it back (although it looks like they ran a tap in it, and now the fittings actually screw down abought 3/4 of the way). Now i cant get 2 fittings to seal. I have tried 1,2, and 3 wraps of teflon. Also tried tightening it from finger tight to using a wrench for leverage and all in between. Tried different fittings as well. Any ideas? Y'all still think i should try tapping it? At this point i have well over a $100.00 bucks into this tank already. I'm looking at 2 options. (1.) cut my losses, buy another tank (2.) order tap online (no one has one locally) and try tapping it myself |

Re: Air fittings won't screw down
I was concerned taking a pipe tap to M20-1.5 would leak, can you post up a pic of the threads they chased? If that's what they did then that is just poor customer service.

Re: Air fittings won't screw down
I'd try 2 things:
1. Get some loctite 474 or which ever one is designed for hyrdraulic sealant if that's not the right #. I've had better experience with than Teflon tape with my system, so your not wasting any money. 2. If that doesn't work, try the company again sending them the pics... Otherwise, cut your loses and buy a new tank. Good luck with the company though. Posted via Mobile Device

Re: Air fittings won't screw down
Who are you dealing with at AVS? I would have them send another tank.

Re: Air fittings won't screw down
The tank fittings should seal with teflon tape. I would call them(company you bought it from) and discuss a solution. I can not tell you how many times I have had problems with parts. I know that sometimes parts are not always available locally, but when you can you always want to buy local. This is the reason why. I only buy steel tanks, that are U.S. built. I know the aluminum ones sound great, but you are not the only one with problems with them. Good luck, I feel your pain.

Re: Air fittings won't screw down
I tryed some "Permatex high temp tread sealant". I let it dry for 4hrs then put 25psi in the tank. It worked better, but still pinhole leaks. Called AVS they said send them some pics. I sent them some and a link to this tread. Theres not much locally around here. So where do i get a steel USA tank? |
