Re: Scored a '70 SWB factory Big Block truck!

Very cool find, and what a cool truck to stumble on to. I can't blame you at all for selling the red truck to get the camaro. I would have done the same thing in your situation. The red truck was sweet, but a 69 camaro big block car is very hard to find.

Nice truck

VERY NICE!!!!!

I wish I could take credit for the term "Birth Defect" when talking about changing options or colors but Paul Duncan (Duncan and Son) and I were talking about a truck and I asked his opinion about doing a color change and he said something like "No big deal, you'd just be fixing a birth defect". From then on I've used the term.

Your Clean-Up looks amazing!!!! Good Luck and keep us informed of progress!!

Re: Scored a '70 SWB factory Big Block truck!

I paid $2000 for it. My buddy gave me a deal on it. He knows these trucks, and knows it would have been worth much more running and driving. He got it cheap, and he made some money on it, but he definitely passed the savings on to me.

Re: Scored a '70 SWB factory Big Block truck!

Here is a little better video of it running. Since I changed the cap, rotor, points, and plugs, it runs very good. It smoked for while from sitting, but has almost completely cleared up. It still has some old gas in the tank, and I'm trying to burn it out. It has no noticeable ring blowby, so I think it will clear up. It doesn't make any internal noise, so I think the engine is great considering how clean it was inside. The transmission works fine in 1st and reverse, but I haven't went through the gears yet.
