Too much oil ??
what does too much oil in your motor do to the engine?
Is it harmfull? Say a half or a liter extra

if it has too much, the crank will mix it up until it gets air bubbles in the oil and damage parts, im not sure half a liter is too much though.

I wouldn't worry too much about half a liter in a V8.

it is a good inch and a half up past FULL mark on the dip stick. I dumped all 6 litres in for the heck of it. I guess I should just drain a bit out now that it is running.

1.5 inches is to much. You need to drain some out. With much oil in there you risk more than aerated oil.
