1979 Silverado Grille

Does anyone know where I can get a New grille For my 1979 silverado. All I can find is the blank ones with no place for the bowtie. This might be one of the only pieces I can t find to complete my truck.

Thanks

Re: 1979 Silverado Grille

Wow! As soon as I read your post I started shopping every site I know assuming I could find you an answer. I found nothing... LMC, Classic Parts, Ebay, etc... Nothing... This is concerning because I too need a '79 Grill. Sorry for being zero help...

Re: 1979 Silverado Grille

No kidding, you can buy the bowtie and the trim strips but no correct grille. I have been scanning EBAY and other sites looking for NOS but came up empty handed. I might call my GM dealer and see if he can do a search to see if any dealer in US has one. I feel like I'm running out of options.

Re: 1979 Silverado Grille

Surely the Reproduction grills can be modified. I know that's not what you want to hear, but I bet it can be done. A little drimmel fabrication and you're good to go. I say that now, but I'm sure it's not that simple.

Re: 1979 Silverado Grille

Keep checking e bay ...they do turn up .....I have purchased a couple from there

The price is starting to climb though ....they used to be 150.00 for nos units....now they are 300.00 to 500.00

Still lots of good used also ...remember the van one is the same

I have seen complete vans on craigslist/kijiji for 500.00 or less ...pull the grille and a few other parts and sell the rest for scrap...and you will have a date correct original grille.

Re: 1979 Silverado Grille

I just bought one from a member here for $200 plus shipping NIB.
It was the charcoal version for my '79.
I am surprised that I was the only one interested in it!

Re: 1979 Silverado Grille

This is news to me too. My buddy crm318 tossed one in the garbage a couple years back and replaced it with a billet grill. SOB...
