Well, I have a driveway and soon enough...room in the garage....so the streetcorner part doesn't make sense for my build...but it WILL still be a rebuild on a shoestring. A lot of cleaning, upgrading parts, and spray bomb will make this truck into a really solid driver!

This build will pick up where he left off. Chandler (mmmmoore24) is moving out of state to continue his education. I had watched the truck on craigslist but it was out of my price range at first. As the weeks approached to his moving date the price continued to drop. Then, on my daily craigslist search...I noticed he posted a new low price and also that he was moving in a few days. I sent him an email and made him what I considered a backup offer....as in....if the truck didn't sell before he was ready to move I would come and buy it. Well, a bunch of craigslist flakes later and I get an email saying it's mine. Drove the wife and kids in the van the 1/2hr trip to the truck, looked it over quickly, and then got the keys and title in exchange for the agreed to price...

Got in, started it up, and drove it the 35 minutes home without a hiccup. 307 V8 w/ a 3 speed manual in the floor. Stripped down long bed....but everything works on it! It was fun to be driving a truck again.

So....there are the craigslist pictures in all their reduced size glory

I will take some better pictures tomorrow before and after I start cleaning it up. I already removed the extra parts boxes from the cab and the rally wheels, rust free door, and other parts in the bed so I technically already cleaned it up some

It's got a 307 with a floor shifted 3 speed manual tranny. Still got points...might swap out to HEI later....but it runs too good now to mess with it. A nice solid cruiser. Seems all the gauges work properly, speed was right on the speedo, and lights worked. (except cancel cam is messed up on turn signals but that's no biggie to me as the signals do work)

On the exterior, it's reminiscent of "circus wagon" with the many colors apparent. That will get worse before it gets better as I swap on better parts and patch rust. Fenders are salvagable but I might leave that to someone else and put on some nicer ones I have in my "stack-o-stuff"
It has a little rust in the bed floor but overall the sides are very nice. Gate is good on the outside but has a big dent on top and typical lower edge rust. Haven't decided if I'll just run it as is or swap a nicer one on....
The grille is as close to perfect as a 41 year old grille can be. No cracks I can see on the inner and no dents on the outer. Just needs the anodizing stripped and a good polish. Haven't decided if I'll keep that grille or sell it and use a new aftermarket 72 outer and inner I happen to have....
Well, I'll detail some more tomorrow with pictures after I look it over better while cleaning it up.

Any idea what the wheels are off of?

If you pull the '70 grille,... I might be interested in the inner grille, if it's nice.

Thanks....no idea honestly...I've never seen them. Probably will be replacing with rally wheels I have...

I will keep you posted if I sell the grille.

Thanks. It's fairly solid for our area and I have a friend who's going to hopefully help me this coming week with some patch panels

I like the original color too....actually sprayed some satin teal paint I have (it's the inside color in our dashes) on the driver's door to look at it...but I am leaning towards just a satin black and probably rally wheels....Unless I find a killer deal on some 20's...wouldn't you know after trying to sell them forever I would sell my 6 lug torque thrusts a few months before buying this

I worked on mainly degreasing the engine bay and rear/undercarriage so I can spray bomb them another day w/less humidity. Got the interior cleaned up a little bit....still a ways to go with that though....need to get the floor patched before I go too far with that...

One thing I really like about trucks like this is you can be as creative as you want. SHould be a lot of fun watching you tear into this one.

A set of chrome vents and a show quality AM/FM would really make that bad boy pop!

....but I do have a really nice set of vent windows with great chrome and good rubber I'll be putting on the truck.

The rims aren't bad. I just wasn't sure about the caps so if I can find some nice ones I might do that...My thinking was that I could get the tires mounted to the rally wheels and then swap out the wheels and tires.

No, can't take credit for that

I'll probably hack the exhaust off short of that clamp since it's quiet and the tip is dented anyways....I really want to find a dual setup for cheap off a parts' truck or a project...

Here's the aforementioned test panel...since I'm going to replace this door....and since it already has the multicolored theme...I figured why not? Well, it just doesn't do anything for me so satin black it will be (unless I find another color I like better before I spray it. Going to try to go to a shop and use real paint and a real gun so it looks better than spray bomb and is more durable....(but a long way before that will happen)

First order of the day was cleaning...forgot a before of the engine bay...but here's the ad shot...


and after orange scented degreaser and a pressure washer....
Lense is foggy because it was so steamy outside....

Now it's ready for some spray bomb...and I think I'm going to go ahead and do the HEI swap at the same time because I HATE the "mile too long" yellow plug wires

I am thinking stock valve covers but I do have a nice chrome set I could put on it...
Thinking of a chevy orange and black theme with the ram horns painted the cast aluminum high heat....

Also notice that the rear brake lines are brand new....I found a receipt tonight for just under $500 worth of work to the braking system!!!
