Driveshaft problems please help
I have a '72 C10 350/TH350 LWB. Twice in the past few months I have replaced the carrier bearing and twice it has completely ripped the mount apart. The driveshaft doesn't have any obvious vibrations. Only when excelerating from a stop.

Take the shaft to a driveline shop and have them ballance it, and check it for straight. It doesn't take much to really mess things up.

I had a problem similar to yours and it turned out to be the rubber isolator (see Posts #72-74 in my Project thread for details)

Is there a dent in your driveline? If it has a dent your driveline is bent (not straight). Vibration under acceleration suggests you have a problem with driveline geometry. There is a lot of great information on drivelines on the Spicer web site.

You didn't say if your truck has been lowered, but if it has it could be your pinion angle. Several companies offer wedges that correct the pinion angle. Usually a 3 or 4 degree wedge will tilt the pinion angle down enough to compensate the lowered stance.
If the ride is stock, I would agree with all of the above replys. NoNeck

sounds like the shafts are out of time. Sounds like a trip to the driveine shop to hae tem put on a carrier bearing, put the shafts back in time, check ujoints and ballance.
low speed vibration is from angle or phasing prolems. A bent shaft viration will usually start around 45mph |
