Frame Vin question!

What do you guys think of this? The 27862 Matches the Vin plate on the cab, so why scratch off the 53 ?

Without actually knowing, I'd say there was some kind of "flub" in the numbering mechanism at the time that it was stamped. Since the numbers are as you say, and especially since they match your VIN, I'd say it was just someone on the assembly line not having the best of days.
