Re: Picked up another Buick
Awsome Buick! My buddy had a 70 wildcat with the 455 and that was a running car. He couldn't keep tires on it if his life depended on it.

Re: Picked up another Buick
No offence but I don't like clones or tributes. After much contemplation I lost my hood spear for scoops. Its still a Special. No Grand Sport badging or BS. It is what it is.

Re: Picked up another Buick
I decided to straighten the hood and replace the fender. I had to cut it short of finishing yesterday since I smashed a finger in the process. Hopefully today I'll have it assembled again.

Re: Picked up another Buick
Well the fender came off twice and beck on three times. I found enough energy to goof with it more tonight. The hood, fender and bumper are all back on. I just need to align everything. I'm not a body work guy. At least not yet.

Re: Picked up another Buick
Last weekend I addressed the nosing down of the car. The problem is intermittent. It seems to run flawlessly when opened up and other times it pukes on itself. I discovered that the lox profile air cleaner base was pinching the fuel line so I installed a banjo fitting. I also cut open the existing fuel filter, it was full of rust. Next I added a fuel pressure gauge which only displayed 2.5 psi! I have a new gas tank on its way. I'm also considering at least 3/8 fuel line tank to carb. I think the 750 carb may work OK although my engine came with a 800cfm q-jet from the factory. Considering the rv cam I may need something larger. Not sure yet but I'll try the edelbrock first. I'm headed to the body shop Saturday for some body work and a new paint job. They say two weeks but we'll see.

Re: Picked up another Buick
They did a good job. I'm over all pleased but they did a few things that annoy me. They painted the rubber bumpers on the doors, painted over trunk latch, hood hinges & springs and "Forgot" to put a couple things back together. After messing around with it most of the day I sat in my lawn chair and just admired the body lines, chrome and overall details. This car was my compromise for a Chevelle. Now I don't think I'd take one over my Buick. It has a body style most people recognise but at the same time have a hard time identifying until they discover the emblems or front plate.

Re: Picked up another Buick
Your Buick is a definite beauty. In college my brother had a '67 GS 400. It needed alittle body work and brake work, other wise it was a great car. He sold it to some guy for $1500 because he "didn't want a buick, it's not a chevelle. In my opinion, it was the biggest mistake he's ever made.

Re: Picked up another Buick
I really like your car, since you bought it last year I check this thread regularly. I've also looked for another one like it and have yet to see one, even at huge events. Definitely more appeal than a Chevelle.

Re: Picked up another Buick
I'm not big on attention but man do I get a lot of comments & thumbs up. The best part is people not knowing what it is. For an example I went to a shop for a bodywork estimate. This shop mostly works on Corvettes. As the estimator was going over the car his entire staff came out to look as I gravitated inside to check out the Vettes. Thanks Leevon, glad to strike your interest in Buick. Parts are sometimes tough to find but the internet is a wonderful thing for tracking parts.
