How does one tell what model your truck is?
When I got the truck, the badges were removed and the guy I bought it off of forgot what it was. I want to re-badge the truck, so I need to know what model it is so I can get the correct ones. I can't seem to find a vin decoder for it, it has manual windows, manual locks p/s, p/b, 305(now 350) with a 700r4. Any Ideas?

Re: How does one tell what model your truck is?
I'd just pick whichever one you like. Nothing on the right side of the dashboard? With no power options it probably isnt a Silverado, but that doesn't mean you can't put Silverado emblems on it if that's what you like. If it had nothing in it it was most likely a Cusom Deluxe, possibly a Scottsdale.
As long as you're doing it for yourself, and not trying to sell it representing it as something else, theres nothing wrong with changing it. As for being accurate to what it once was, I cant help you there.

Re: How does one tell what model your truck is?
Options like power windows don't determine the model and it's not in the VIN. It's actually the trim package you're looking for. The model would be 10/20/30,wheelbase,bed type,V8/6,etc. Your best bet is find sales brochures for your year. Certain features are "hard wired" into the package while the rest are individual options. You could order power windows on a Custom Deluxe. You could tell us what you have, like headliner, original carpet, any exterior trim, fancy door panels, what kind of seat upholstery...etc? Oh...also tell us what year it is.

Look for clues that still remain. The grill, headlights, door panels, dash trim, etc all came with certain packages that might still remain. Post some pics and we might be able to help better.

If you have the SPID label it may say on there. For example, I seem to recall RPO Z62 = Scottsdale trim level.
If you are really desparate you could send away for the information packet for your particular truck from the GM Heritage Center archives. K

Re: How does one tell what model your truck is?
They truck is on a ranch down south right now, so I can't check if it had a spid, come to think of it I think it does. It's an 84 GMC, the dash was replaced, so thats no hep at all. I'm going for a resto mod look so I'd like to have them as accurate as possible.
Do you want pictures of tte outside aswell? Here's the only pic I have of the interior(ignore the mess just got back from a road trip). Sorry about the size, tried resizing it, did't work.

Re: How does one tell what model your truck is?
It had a carpet at some point, but the guy I bought it from started parting it out so it was gone.

Re: How does one tell what model your truck is?
Yeah.. it was just a trim level... Custom Deluxe.. Scottsdale..Cheyenne.. Silverado.. Sierra.. Sierra Classic... etc.. now certain years they deleted certain trim levels.. not sure the exact dates about that, but I know they got rid of the Scottsdale trim in the early 80's, I believe
Anybody correct me if I'm wrong

Yeah the tough thing is these trucks were interchangeable, and you can make it what you want... after you got it home.

Re: How does one tell what model your truck is?
It didn't have to have PW/PDL to be a silverado. You could order a silverado with manuels if you wanted. Back in the day you had a lot of options. I liked it better then. Now you can have a base chevy truck or a high option one, but there all Silverados.
