Anyone installed VintageAir in their non-factory AC cab? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I havent seen this done so I am curious how this works. Does the Vintage Air kit come with the vents to install? Do you have to cut the wholes in your dash of do they have those vents that just mount under your dash?

Brian, Im going to watch this thread as I want to add air to mine next year maybe but I dont care if the vents are added or not. I would be perfectly happy with under dash vents if they are made that way like the old dealer added A/C from way back.

You can either cut dash and install their in-dash vents or most people use the OEM vents,which obviously need to be cut in,too. I'm not sure if an under dash vent set-up is offered.

I've always cut the dash for OEM vents. The underdash looks to added on for me. Let me know if you have any other questions. I've done a bunch of vintage air installs.

I used the Vintage -air Gen-2 universal kit. It was quite a chore to put in. I used under dash outlets. I probably should have used the custm kit but my firewall under the hood is clear. It works real good. I just bought the inside kit & used a factory compresser & a salvage yard cond.

Yep, but when I installed the vintage air in the 67 they were ran a little bit different. The orange truck was done before the crew cab, I like the hoses tucked behind the inner fenders.

There is a hose that vents the water out the cab.
