Dash Skins

Does anyone have any experiences installing a dash skin over their existing factory dash? If so how did you go about it? What type of adhesive for bonding? Did you tape the existing cracks on the original first? If so What kind of tape ect. Thanks

Re: Dash Skins

If you mean a dash cap, I installed one by Accuform. Not a good product. The cap cracked 6 weeks after installation and did not fit the original dash very well - too small to make a good fit in the curved areas, puffs up on the top surface, especially in the heat. Looks like the cheap junk it is - not bad from a distance though. I would not waste money on a cap. Instead, I would get an estimate from a local upholstery shop on a vinyl and foam recovering of the dash. The proper way to recover the dash is with a vacuum form process, like Just Dashes, but that can be $500 and up. For an old truck, I think a local upholstery shop can do an adequate job, and much better than a cap.
