Good books on LS rebuilding?

Are there any good books, for example say the equivalent to "how to rebuild your small block chevy" by David Vizard, dealing with rebuilding the LS engine?

Essentially, what i'm trying to do is put together a LSX short or long block properly and not overlook anything.

OR if the factory offers something like this---ready made short or long block i would seriously consider it. But it has to be with all forged internals because i'm trying to get 1500-2000hp cheap using a blower. Which is why i asked about the books because i don't think the factory offers something like this.

OR do you know of any decent shops that can do this?

Lots of LS info with links to a couple of other forums with LS questions and answers and links. Might not be exactly what you are looking for but you may find someone or something from the LINKS???

Re: Good books on LS rebuilding?

I can't remember if its in the LS info on here, but I have the pdf of the engine service manual. Its not really a reader-friendly how to, but its a nice guideline with torque specs and such

"How to Build and Modify GM LS-Series Engines"

I've read this book and I love it. Very comprehensive and easy to understand with a ton of "what to watch out for" and tricks of the trade. I plan on using it as a step by step guide when I build my engine in a few weeks.

Re: Good books on LS rebuilding?

Try posting on the LS1Tech.com site. Probably a lot more people there that can answer that question. As for doing it cheap, Yeh, I don't think so.. I don't think that kind of power is going to be cheap. But good luck. And if you are able to do it cheap, post a lot. LOL.

Re: Good books on LS rebuilding?

I'm not sure how i missed you saying "Cheap". 2000hp won't be cheap to build, maintain, or operate. Besides that, on an ls there is no "cheap blower" like you may find for the sbc.
Big power would come from the big boys, like a Procharger F1 or going the turbo route. Either way, you've blown cheap out of the water.
As for the block, the LSX block is the only "Factory" block meant for that sort of application. I'm not sure where companies offer, but DART makes a billet block.
