Two Tone Cab: Factory Break Line or Custom
Now that I am too the point of painting my cab I am weighing my options as to how much white I want.
The factory two tone break line runs along the doors, A-pillar and around the sides and top of the windshield. The custom break line shown in the second photo breaks the paint line at the rear of the door. Which do ya'll think looks best? Option 1, Stock Two Tone: Option 2, Custom Two Tone: |

I always liked the lines of the factory paint breaks. On mine I will be using them but with a darker (gray?) color, instead of white.

Re: Two Tone Cab: Factory Break Line or Custom
The factory lines are the best looking! I had the same question when the body shop was about to paint my top white. Same situation with the tri five cars, some guys will paint the top and not the door frames. Looks odd. Good to see you back Lake!!!!

the picture you referenced is actually the way a custom GMC was painted, they also painted the top of the fleetside bed white fromt the top of the rail to the bodyline break. Kieth |

I like the 2nd option for custom paint. That is the way I am going to have mine painted. This way if I dont like it or get burnt out on it I can always add the paint lower.

You can't really go wrong either way...Both look good in my opinion so you should just do which ever one you like best!

Re: Two Tone Cab: Factory Break Line or Custom
You can also split it even lower like the truck on the right.....the one on the left I call a baseball cap..It took me a week or so for the baseball cap style to grow on me but now I really like it .....I would do it again for sure. I am also at the point on my pro street build that i need to decide what to do color wise and split wise or if i even want to split it. It's not a easy sometimes making a choice....lol.....good luck...

Interesting, I like the look but for me the "reason" for the white cab is to keep the in-cab temperature cooler. The color on the roof kind of defeats that. Quote:
Your photo helps a lot, giving a front three-quarter view of the "baseball cap" / "mullet" look. The factory stock two tone is growing on me. Last edited by lakeroadster; 09-05-2011 at 05:12 PM. |

Re: Two Tone Cab: Factory Break Line or Custom
Here's mine I eventually want to add a charcoal stripe inbetween the deluxe trim to break it up.
