8 ohn / 4 ohm and speaker box question

Hey Guys,
Looking for a good setup starting with the following...
I was given 4 hole 8" speaker box that is made for my 66 c10 to replace the fuel tank.
So, I will be going with this.
I also got some brand new 8 ohm mid range 8" speakers.
So I don't hack up the dash, I want to use the 240 watt USA-630 stereo.
I also plan on getting the kick panels with the upgraded speakers (pioneer I think they come with)

A question is do I have to stick with all 8 ohm speakers?
Can I use 8" 4 ohm bass speakers in my box?

Do I put the bass speakers on the outside 2 holes or the inside 2 holes of the box?

What would be a decent amp to go with along with what speakers(suggestions please)

Thanks!

They don't have to be the same. As long as they are wired to their own channel. The 8 ohm with get less watts from you amp than the 4 ohm.

I've never seen an 8" mid range speaker though.

Re: 8 ohn / 4 ohm and speaker box question

8" midrange is pretty rare. I'm assuming they are bass speakers though.

If you only use 2 then as suggested hook each to their channel or bridge the amp and run them in parallel which will get you 4 ohms. If you do 4 then run two to each channel in parallel again giving you 4ohm. Or run each to it's own channel for 8ohm.

As for inside or outside holes it won't matter assuming each hole has it's own chamber.

8" woofers generally don't get more than 100watts. I've run 3 8's at 150 watts total and it sounded great.

Re: 8 ohn / 4 ohm and speaker box question

Thanks for the replies.
What I got was 8Pw3 Selenium speakers. I assumed they were midrange. Maybe their midrange bass?!

8" 250W MIDRANGE WOOFERS 8PW3 150 watts rms

Each speaker does have it's own chamber

I'll keep your info handy once I start doing the wiring.

Re: 8 ohn / 4 ohm and speaker box question

just a note to give you another option.. if you wire two 4 ohm speakers in series, you turn it into one 8 ohm speaker as far as your amp knows.. you can wire two 8 ohm speakers in parallel to make it look like one 4 ohm speaker.. as a child i wired 16 speakers to my tube radio in a 57 chevy and was king of the parking lot... they were junk yard speakers and no one made amps for cars back then... if you use a combination of series and parallel and the total resistance per channel is within specs, you can use unique combinations... example.. two 8 inch 8 ohm in series sounds like 1 12 inch..

the down side is power, if you want passing planes to hear your bass,, spend the money... you can make great sound but think you can hit lighter speakers with a mega watt..

Re: 8 ohn / 4 ohm and speaker box question

According to the specs., they need 1.02 cu. ft. of box space per sub for optimum performance. Check to see if the box you have can provide that.

I'll check that out. 81c10

Thanks for the details John! Making a little more sense to me. Not looking for anything real loud. Just want to wire it best as possible.
